1 January 2010 - 1 December 2012,  00:00 - 00:00,

The Virtual Research Environments Working Group was active until December 2012. It was composed of experts from the four partner organisations and communities. The working group initiated a series of thematic workshops aimed bringing together experts in fields related to VREs.

Issues for the working group were:

  • Development of a more mature understanding and implementation of VRE technologies in scientific practice
  • Greater uptake of VREs among researchers, especially in transnational collaboration
  • Better reuse and development of tools, especially interdisciplinary
  • Providing an up-to-date strategy paper delivering guidelines for the future development of funding programmes
  • Informing the EU Commission of Knowledge partners' recommendations for the development and support of VREs as an important element of a real European research area.
