Licence to Publish now also available in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Icelandic

The Licence to Publish has been translated into Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Icelandic. The organisation for the Nordic countries Nordbib was interested in the opportunities offered by this licence to have a piece of work published without taking the copyrights away from the author. The licence to publish offers authors a standard agreement in which the auteur does not hand over the copyright, but grants the publisher the right to publish the work while retaining the rights for the author to use the work for other purposes

The Copenhagen University Library and Information Service (CULIS) - in cooperation with Stockholm University and Lund University - is in the middle of a project that involves not only tranlating the original Licence to Publish and adjusting it to the legislation of each of the Nordic countries. It also will incorporate the License in an outreach and awareness initiative in selected academic domains in Denmark and Sweden. The project has received funding from Nordbib. The new licences are available on the copyright toolbox http://copyrighttoolbox.surf.nl/. This website has been set up in a collaboration of the JISC (UK) and SURFfoundation (The Netherlands). The licences can be found next to the licences which were already available in English, Dutch, French and Spanish.

Nordbib is a funding programme for research and development in the area of Open Access to scholarly and scientific information at a Nordic level. Nordbib itself is funded by Nordforsk and its secretariat placed organisationally in the framework of Danish Agency for Library and Media.
