28 January 2010 Knowledge Exchange Strategy Forum prioritises work on Research Data and Open Access
The partners have expressed confidence in the work of the collaboration and agree that Knowledge Exchange should move forward with a stronger focus on two themes in particular: Access to data and Open Access to publications
A shared view on future strategies
On 29-30 October 2009, at the Knowledge Exchange Strategy Forum in Fredensborg, Denmark, senior management, invited guests and staff of the four European Knowledge Exchange partner organisations discussed the achievements and future of the initiative. The most important outcome was a shared view on future strategies for continuing successful dialogue and collaboration. It was decided that work should be focused on supporting awareness of the value of research data and the issues involved in keeping this accessible. Although a lot of progress has been made in the field of Open Access this is a topic which requires continuing attention in 2010.
Knowledge Exchange partners confident on continuation of collaboration
The partners agreed that the work being undertaken in Knowledge Exchange is valuable and should be continued. A formal evaluation of the initiative will take place later in 2010 to decide whether to extend the partnership beyond the end of the current agreement in August 2011. The four partner organisations all agreed that they experienced great benefit from the continuous exchanges and brokerage across the European academic and research communities being served by Knowledge Exchange.
Relation to other collaborations and projects
Following a series of presentations on existing collaborations and projects where Knowledge Exchange is active, it was agreed that the collaboration plays a valuable role in addressing policy questions and raising awareness about the common issues. The collaboration is also effective in disseminating the results and ideas of projects.
