BioOne
BioOne is a XML-based aggregation of essential bioscience research journals. BioOne is a not-for-profit organization founded by a partnership of SPARC, the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the Greater Western Library Alliance, the University of Kansas, and Allen Press. For students and researchers, BioOne is a robust, easy-to-use platform with critical bioscience content.
BioOne now includes 143 publications from 102 publishers across three collections. All journals include at least two years of backfile, with many available back to 2000. At present, 66% of BioOne titles are ISI-ranked, and 40% are available in electronic format exclusively on BioOne.

Updates
BioOne is an aggregation of current content, and as such is updated daily with new content. Current journal issues for active publications are released on BioOne shortly after print release. The most recent available issues for all BioOne publications are available at: http://www.bioone.org/perlserv/?request=get-current-issue. New titles are also being added to BioOne on an annual basis.

BioOne is a product of the scholarly community and is fully vetted by its constituents. BioOne’s Board of Directors and Community Advisory Council are made up of key individuals from the library, publisher, and user communities. BioOne has also undergone two critical business model studies, the first in 2004 and one more recently in 2007. Executive summaries of or data from these studies are available upon request.

BioOne encourages interested not-for-profit and society publishers to apply for BioOne inclusion, with process and benefits outlined on our website at: http://www.bioone.org/perlserv/?request=get-static&name=get-publish.
Specific selection criteria used by our content development team include ISI-ranking, international focus/appeal, prestigious editorial board/leadership, bioscience content fit, and existing online presence and circulation. BioOne attempts to bring together esteemed, well-known synthesis titles with niche publications that represent the building blocks of science. Together, these publications provide users with a well-rounded aggregate resource for all of their research needs.

2.Subscription and Licensing Terms
The agreement will be for three years, starting from 2 January 2009 to 31 December 2011. Institutions can subscribe at any time, and can opt-out annually with no penalty on the anniversary of the starting date.

Authentication
The platform does not support Shibboleth authentication, but it does support Athens authentication. BioOne will be Shibboleth compliant with the launch of a new platform in January 2008.
