Open Access Working Group
Open Access is a complex issue on both European and national agendas. Knowledge Exchange has established an Open Access Working Group composed of expert colleagues, who are responsible for their national programmes on Open Access and who are willing to discuss the current state of affairs, future challenges and opportunities for future collaboration.

Open Access agenda
The working group intends to use capitalise upon the initial success of the Open Access petition as a basis for future activities within the framework of Knowledge Exchange.
Issues for this agenda include:
- Economic studies of Open Access
- Evaluation of the petition on European Commission
- Promotion of the Licence to Publish
- Information exchange on studies into Open Access
- Promotion of best practices for publishers
- Developing common approaches in support of Open Access
The purpose of the Open Access Working Group is to:
- Achieve the best possible result from the hard work already done on the petition
- Build on the success of the petition in order to reach further and make the KE vision happen
- Harmonise and encourage knowledge exchange and the reuse of competencies and resources in order to encourage researchers, funding agencies, and the political level to acknowledge the possibilities and challenges regarding Open Access.
The Open Access Working Group has approx. 4 meeting a year. Last meeting was held 16 November in London and the next is planned for 25 February 2010 in Copenhagen.
